Church and Fellowship

HY church is my usual place to attend Sunday service, prayer meetings and Bible study.

This is my fifth year in bsf. The book of this year is Genesis. A very enjoyable study, especially, the study started at the time I was moving on to another stage and I am still moving on. The book contains many many great promises. I like Genesis 15:1 most.

“Do not be afraid, Abram.
    I am your shield,
    your very great reward.”  

God is my shield and very great reward. Nothing is too hard for Him.

So I am learning to...
look up to Him,
count His blessings,
believe His promises.


Academic

I defended my doctoral dissertation on September 25 submitted the final to graduate school on Nov 6.

My deepest thanks to family and friends who offered their help and gave encouraging words through these seven years. A VERY VERY BIG THANK YOU to all of you!

What's next after completing the degree? Finding a job! Writing job application, writing conference abstract, presenting conference paper, organizing course outline and making powerpoints.

原來個校舍好靚，好期待，天氣好，好希望可以逛一下。

近日還是努力寫求職信，過去兩個星期沒有太多香港空缺，反而，外國有一些工，本著寫了不一定有回應的心態寫，就當作是練習的機會。

cover letter和CV是基本，也要寫teaching statement﹑research statement﹑statement addressing selection criteria

不用填表格，網上提交申請，好方便。

今日崇拜其中一首詩歌《嚴冬懷主歌》，覺現是一首中文詞翻譯得好美的詩歌，意景好像看電影一樣。

唱到第四節，最後兩句「但我所能獻呈，祇有我的心」，眼濕濕。


在寒冷嚴冬裏，凜風如怨訴，大地堅如鐵鑄，凝冰像石鋪；雪花紛紜雪上雪，蓋地又蔽天，在寒冷嚴冬裏，遠遠在當年。

蒼天何能容祂，大地更卑微，當祂降世統治，天地都迴避；在寒冷的嚴冬裏，馬槽棲身地，反容道成肉身，基督主上帝。

想起不如，把上帝給亞伯蘭祝福的對話列出來，可以睇得更清楚上帝的祝福及亞伯蘭的回應。

第一回 (Genesis 12:1-4)


The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

 “I will make you into a great nation,
    and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
    and you will be a blessing.[a]
I will bless those who bless you,
    and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
    will be blessed through you.”

So Abram went, as the Lord had told him


第二回 (Genesis 13:14-18)

The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.  I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”

So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the Lord.


第三回 (Genesis 15:1-6)

After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:

“Do not be afraid, Abram.
    I am your shield,
    your very great reward.”

But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.”

Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

亞伯蘭的回應，就是「去了」﹑「搬了」﹑「信」，都是照著耶和華的吩咐去行。

原來居住的社區是一個好多元文化的地方。既有香港傳統漁村文化，也有上海文化﹑多年前有日本文化，也有韓國文化。今天是印度人的新年，到公園慶祝的印度家庭也為數不少，好熱鬧，女孩子和女士穿上印度傳統服裝，好靚。

一個普通的屋苑，有小香港仔，又有小上海，也有小印度，精彩非常。


不用出外，也感受到不同國族文化，呢個社區又幾新奇。
